One applicant's seven-page, nine-point font resume went straight to the "thanks-but-no-thanks" pile. Sorry, I don't have time to read a book. If you think you need that much space demonstrate that you're qualified, you aren't qualified enough in the "professionalism" category.
Hey, I stand completely corrected on the spelling. I blame auto correct. However, I very much stand by my listing of what are considered to be best practice fonts for resumes.

Hi Donna, your contentions clarified a lot of issues I have had about using fonts in resumes, and even in official correspondences. Thank you for the interesting piece. I think Arial is gentler on the yes than Times New Roman does. For journalists like me so bent on rushing to the print with little consideration for the eye rollers, its a whole lot of new perspective. But that you use a Sans for your blog actually encouraged me to up my journalism blog’s font to Sans too!
